One Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour is traveling across Siberia. A volunteer from this team sent in the story of a woman named Alia, who not only changed her own life, but is also helping her friends with what she has learned.
Many people ask the question: "Who am I? Why am I here?" Alia was no exception. She was looking everywhere for the answers to these questions, and to find out how to really help people. But having read books, attended courses, and looked into various subjects to find the answers, by the time she was 30 all Alia found was confusion.
So many conflicting theories.
So little that really seemed to work.
In her heart she kept believing that there ARE answers and something CAN be done about it.
Outwardly, Alia had become pretty cynical, but secretly she maintained an optimism that one day she'd find the answers. So when the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Trans-Siberian Goodwill Tour arrived in her town Alia approached us with skepticism -- concerned she might be mistaken once again.
Little by little, Alia realized this was something different. And when she took the course on "The Cause of Supression" based on the Scientology Handbook, she realized she was onto something very important.
The course started out with these words: "Why are some people ill more often than others? Why are some accident-prone? And is there a reason others live their lives on an emotional seesaw, doing well one day and badly the next?" This was exactly what Alia wanted to know.
Within the next few hours, from studying the information on the course, Alia spotted the source of a problem she'd had for years. Suddenly she knew that L. Ron Hubbard had found the reason for her difficulty. And she knew exactly what to do about it. But for Alia it was not enough for her to feel relieved and find some important answers.
Her friends knew Alia loved to help people and they would always come to her for advice. Before, she would suggest whatever pop psychology gimmick she was reading about in the latest magazine or self-help book. But she knew these really didn't work.
Now she had something she knew would be effective and she decided to apply what she had learned. At that time, she was taking another Scientology Volunteer Ministers course called "Integrity and Honesty." At the end of the course she was supposed to help someone else with the information she had just learned. Alia chose a friend who used to come to her constantly about something she was hung up on. Unfortunately, that "something" happened 10 years ago, and nothing Alia did was helping the woman. By using what she learned in this course, in less than three hours her friend came to terms with this incident in her life, and it hasn't troubled her since.
That's when Alia realized that the motto of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers -- "Something can be done about it" -- is not a cliché: it is absolutely true.
