Scientology Volunteer Ministers of India Introduce the National Disaster Response Force to Assist Techniques from the Scientology Handbook
In times of disaster, those responsible for safeguarding the survivors know the importance of being able to cope with emotional reactions — hysteria, panic, hostility and the despair of those who have lost loved ones, homes or possessions.

For this reason, Scientology assist techniques have been adopted by relief organizations all over the world. These procedures, developed by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion, are enormously effective in times of disaster as they address the emotional and spiritual side of trauma, helping people quickly recover from the effect of stress or shock.
These techniques have proven effective time and again in disasters such as the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, the 2004 tsunami, the Pakistan earthquake in 2005 and the Indonesian earthquake in 2006.
Using the Scientology Handbook chapter on Scientology Assists, a group of trainees from the new National Disaster Response Force of India is learning how to cope with the "human element" in times of emergency, so they can not only be more effective in their work of protecting lives and property, but can also provide genuine help to the victims of the disaster.
