Scientology Handbook the Basis of Trauma Relief for Children and Teachers of Yogyakarta
When it came to helping children and teachers whose school was completely destroyed by last month's tornado, the Scientology Disaster Relief Team turned to the Scientology Handbook for a seminar to help them overcome their trauma.
Just days after the Yogyakarta tornado struck in February, Scientology volunteers returned to the region to help with the clean-up and provide trauma relief to the people of the area.

An example of their work was a seminar at a local school destroyed by the twister. Every child and teacher was directly affected by this disaster, so the entire student body and all the teachers — more than 1000 in all — attended the a seminar in basic Scientology assists technology.
Scientology assists, as covered in the Scientology Handbook, are procedures developed by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion, to help people who are ill, distraught or injured. While they do not take the place of medical attention or first aid, assists address the emotional and spiritual side of the trauma, and help the person to recover fully and quickly from injury, stress or shock.
The Coordinator of the School District was so impressed by the improvement he saw that reported to parliament that not only were the Scientologists the first ones on the scene after the disaster, the trauma program they held for the students and teachers only took one week and had remarkable results.
His report included this from the school's principal: after the seminar the children were in excellent spirits — in fact they were even happier than before the tornado struck!
